End of last year, December 2020, I bought one Essie polish from CVS.
This is Essie in Throw It On. Since I did a thorough review of Essie Expressie in Desk Mani, I will base this on that.
Here's a closer look at the color. The website describes it as "soft lilac purple." It definitely is soft lilac. I don't know if I agree if it's purple. It's more lilac than purple.
Here's a closer look at the brush. Compared to OPI, the width is slightly wider. The length, on the other hand, it slightly shorter.
I applied OPI Nail Envy in OriginalMadam Glam Gelementary Gel-Like Base Coat, two coats of Essie in Throw It On, and topped all the nails with Essie Good To Go Top Coat.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, the brush is wide enough to do three strokes and move onto the next nail. Not only that, I like the curve tip. It makes it easy to paint around the cuticles and sides. I don't know if all Expressie brushes have a slant. This is my second from this line and both of them are slanted. I thought I just got a bad batch. Even though they are slanted, it did not affect painting. Secondly, I like the packaging. It's simple and cute looking. With that said, it's well-made and sturdy. It's made out of thick glass. The top is also sturdy. You can feel a tight seal when you open and close the top. I cannot see it open or break unless you are rough with the packaging. For this reason, it's travel-friendly. It's easy to throw in your purse, bag, and even your pocket. It's also easy to hold with one hand. Third, the consistency is creamy and on the medium. It's not too thick that it's hard to work with. It's also not too thin that it runs while painting. It's a good consistency and you can take your time with painting. It will not get clumpy with usage. With that said, it's easy to use. It goes on smoothly, and there are no streaking and bubbles. Fourth, the color is a pretty lilac. It will be great for spring and summer season. Also since it's on the neutral side, it will be great for work that is conservative. Would I say the color is unique? No, you can definitely find in other brands. Pigmentation-wise it's up there. I wouldn't say it's the most pigmented but it's pretty decent. Two coats were good enough on my skin tone. Lastly, I saw chipping on the sides of the tips on the fifth day. They were really slight. It's not noticeable unless you look real close. Since I look for review purchases, I noticed it. I did not see shrinkage whatsoever. I'm glad I got this product. It's a pretty color. I just think it brings the redness out of my skin. It'll look better on other people. I think it will look great on darker skin tones. I'll definitely try other colors. These polishes last a decent amount of time which blows me away!

Would repurchase: No.
