My friend gifted me this polish from Julep.

I took this picture from my Instagram. I already reviewed Orly Calcium Shield Basecoat (top middle) and Deborah Lippman in Do The Mermaid (bottom left). For this post, I will review the polish on the top right.
This is Julep in Simone. Since I did a thorough review of Julep in Renee, I will base this on that.
Here's a closer look at the color. The website describes it as "soft pastel lilac opalescent shimmer." I don't know if I completely agree with the description. I don't really see the opalescent shimmer.
Here's a closer look at the brush. Compared to my favorite OPI brush, the width and length is the same. The only difference OPI has a straight tip, whereas, Julep is curved.
I applied OPI Nail Envy in OriginalFormula X Prime Xcel Base Coat, 2 coats of Julep in Simone, and then topped it with Formula X Shine Xcel Top Coat.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, I got a bad brush. If you can see from the picture above, the hairs were all over the place. Just because I got a bad brush, doesn't mean you will. With that said, it didn't start well. It made it hard to paint around the cuticles and sides. I had to be more careful than usual so I don't paint my skin. If you've been reading my blog for some time, you know I want fast results when it comes to painting my nails. This wasn't fast. I had to be more slower and careful than usual. Let's just say I wasn't a big fan of this particular brush. Secondly, I've always like Julep packaging. It's sturdy, travel-friendly, and easy to grab with your hand. I also love the small, straight packaging. With most brands, you cannot see instant gratification. With Julep after each usage, I see the quantity drop. It makes me feel good to know I'm using my polishes since I own so many. I guess that's the story of being a blogger. Third, the consistency is in-between medium to thick. Slight thickness and a bad brush did not help with the application. I made a complete mess but the laziness of me, I just kept it as it is. It doesn't show in the picture above but there were some bubbles and it wasn't completely smooth. Some parts were thicker in consistency on my nails than other parts. I'm not too sure why. I noticed most of the thickness of the polish was towards the tips. Thankfully, there were no streaking. Fourth, the color is great for spring/summer season. Unfortunately, the color isn't that great on me. It washes out my skin. This will look great on medium tone to dark skin individuals. With that said, the color is very opaque and definitely pastel. I didn't see any shimmer to this polish even outside in the sun. Lastly, I noticed chipping on the tips on the fourth day. Other than chipping, I didn't see any shrinkage.

Would repurchase: Maybe.
