When I saw the Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick Collection at Target, I knew I had to grab it. I've always been into matte lipsticks but they tend to dry out my lips. For that reason and to be safe, I grabbed one. I couldn't decide between two colors. I decided to get Lust For Blush since it's not my typical color. Since I already did a thorough review on Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Nude Lust, I will base this on that.
Here's a closer look at the packaging of the matte lipstick. The cover is matte to represent the type of lipstick. There's 10 different colors in this collection and it costs $5.49 for 0.15 oz/ 4.2 g at Target.
Now for my overall opinion... First of all, it smells like a typical Maybelline lipstick. It has that slight vanilla scent. The smell isn't bothersome which is impressive since I'm not a big fan of vanilla. Secondly, it goes on creamy. I was pretty impressed since most matte lipsticks tend to tug on the lips. It goes on smooth and does not show the fine lines on the lips. Unfortunately with time, the lines do show up but it wasn't that bad in my case. If you have deep lines, I think it'll show up more. Third and the most important factor if it dried out my lips. It did not which is impressive in itself! Most matte lipsticks tend to dry out my lips and I would build white residue in the middle of the mouth. It did not with this lipstick. On the other hand, it's not hydrating. If you're looking for a hydrating lipstick, this isn't it. With that said, I still like this lipstick a lot. A matte lipstick that does not dry out my lips is a big plus! I'm also digging the color. It's a great color for the fall/winter weather. If you're too scared of wine color (the trend for the fall), this is a lighter alternative. I can see myself wearing this color often this fall. Lastly, the longevity is the same as all lipsticks until I eat or drink.
Would repurchase: Yes, I'm thinking of getting the other color I wanted.
