End of last year (2009), while checking out the outlet, I noticed a little store that sells skin care products. I have never heard of this brand even though it's popular... lol~ :X I'm slow when it comes to skin care products but I noticed I'm much better this year (2010). That's a different story... hehe~ Anyways, I decided to try their famous facial cream. I told the saleslady I have the driest skin since it's winter and she recommended this product for me. I bought the sample packet that comes with three of the same facial moisturizer. I used one of them (I need to use the other two) and decided it's time to review it... hehe~
Product Review: L'occitane 25% Shea Ultra Rich Face Cream

Where can you purchase this: Sephora, Loccitane stores, and their website at www.loccitane.com
Price:
about $39

Made in France

Information from the website: New paraben-free formula, the Ultra Rich Face Cream is specially formulated to hydrate, nourish and protect dry and damaged skin. The perfect moisturizer for those with dry or dehydrated skin, who are in need of intensive hydration. The formula is exceedingly dense and creamy, although rapidly absorbed without leaving an oily film. It has been proven to increase skin hydration for 24 hours.

In addition to 25% shea butter, the formula is made with wheat and chestnut extracts, which strengthen the skin. These extracts are rich in vitamins and minerals to help replenish the skin’s hydrolipidic film and restore balance to the skin’s barrier, defending it against harsh environmental conditions.

My thoughts: My initial reaction is that it sounds great especially for my dry skin that needs a lot of hydration. It wouldn't hurt to try... hehe~ After finishing one tube that took me about a little less than a month, I realized it wasn't for me. It didn't hydrate my face as the saleslady mentioned, as well as, the website. After I moisturized my face with the cream, I could still feel the tightness and it didn't disappear as time went on throughout the day *sigh*. I actually felt like I needed more cream on my face which I did apply... hehe~ :X

Pros:
* It's from a natural/organic product.
* Cream is thick.
* Melts in your skin.

Cons:
* Didn't moisturize.
* Felt tightness.
* Smelled like butter.

Would I buy this again? No.
Rating: [Color+Paw.jpg] 2/5 Tobey's Paws

Hints of moisturizing your face:
* After you apply the moisturizer and it still feels tight (say about 10 minutes later), it isn't doing it's job. You need a heavier moisturizer.
* If it's moisturizing your face but say an hour later, your face is shiny/oily then the moisturizer is too heavy for you. You need a lighter moisturizer.

I'm sure you guys know these rules, but it doesn't hurt to say it... hehe~ ;)

Two weeks ago, I checked out Sephora and noticed they're selling Benefit Lust Dusters for their Sweet Steals (click here to learn about Sweet Steals). Unfortunately, they changed it last week but it doesn't hurt to check it out at your local Sephora... hehe~ ;)
They had two different sets of Benefit Lust Dusters, but I thought I'll get more use with these colors... hehe~ I got them in light, natural colors. I think they will look great in the inner corners, as well as, bottom inner lids. :)
The first color is white, pure and it's called Snow Bunny.
The middle color is Nugget.
The last color is Goldilocks.

I also swatched the colors for you... hehe~
The colors from left to right are Snow Bunny, Nugget, and Goldilocks.

Today (well it won't be when this is posted), I met with Kalmo and had a good time eating lunch and shopping. I didn't buy much, but a headband for myself (I know I need to stop *sigh*) and a gift for Tobey... hehe~
I couldn't refuse this headband for several reasons. For one thing, it's unique and the other is that it's gorgeous!... hehe~ I bought this from Charlotte Russe.
I bought this at Old Navy. It's such an interesting product... hehe~ I'm so easily amused!... hehe~ It has a snap-on button on the side where you can snap it together. Then un-snap when you want to put water in the square bowl-like cloth. I bought this to take Tobey along like the dog park. I don't like him drinking out of the water bowl at the dog park... hehe~ It's really nasty! :X

Meeting Kalmo

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile even though it's only been a week!... hehe~ My brother FINALLY took my computer to fix the problem I had since Thanksgiving Day. It's so much faster and better... wheee~ I did learn something while not having my computer for a week, I realized I'm very dependent on my computer *sigh*. I couldn't do much in my room because whenever I was in my room, I looked at an empty space where the computer was... lol~ :X

Do you guys feel that way too? Are you dependent on your computer?

Anyways, this week (when this is posted, it'll be last week) I had a great opportunity to meet a blogger Kalmo. Not only is she sweet when you comment on her blog, she's sweeter in real life and has the most whitest teeth. Whenever she smiles, her face glow with the sparkling teeth... hehe~ We chilled for two days (Monday and Wednesday) eating, shopping, and chatting. I had a great time! I hope Tobey and I didn't bore her... hehe~

Here are some of the things I bought. I bought these at CVS during their BOGO Free sale.
I bought Rimmel lipstick in #006 Pink Blush. I've heard good stuff about these lipsticks. It's my first time buying this brand lipstick. I hope they're right... hehe~
I also bought Rimmel Stay Matte powder in #001 Transparent. I've read good reviews, as well as, Kalmo said they're good. It doesn't hurt to try... hehe~
Here are the swatches to the Rimmel lipstick and powder. I know the powder is hard to see, but it's right on top of "blogspot"... hehe~ It's a little lighter than my hand, but it'll be great on the face. :)

Rimmel wasn't the only things I bought... hehe~ I also bought masks.
I couldn't refuse these especially the unique flavors; cherry, vitamin/orange, pearl, olive, and blackbeans. I have never heard of these from sheet masks... hehe~

These aren't the only masks I got on those days. I was blessed with more from Kalmo. She was nice enough to give me some... wheee~
She gave me green tea, carrot, cucumber, collagen, rose garden, and blueberry. The blueberry one sounds so yummy!... hehe~
She also gave me some of the samples she received.

That wasn't the only things I bought. Not that I needed these, but I bought more nail polishes *sigh*. :X I couldn't refuse the new OPI collection Alice in Wonderland... hehe~

Check out my nail polish collections: OPI (click here), Essie (click here), China Glaze (click here), and overall nail polishes (click here).
I got two nail polishes from the collection (Alice in Wonderland). This one is Mad as a Hatter.
The last OPI nail polish I bought was Absolutely Alice.

If that wasn't bad enough, I bought two more Essie nail polishes... hehe~ :/
This is Chinchilly.
This Essie nail polish is Mink Muffs.
I'm wearing this at the moment. The first thing that came to mind was chocolate-flavored nails and then poop... lol~ :X

I also bought a nail polish thinner for my Seche Vite top coat. This product is amazing! I wish I knew about this earlier!... lol~
That's not the only nail polishes I got. Kalmo tried to surprise me with a China Glaze when we went to the Sally's Beauty store... hehe~
She gave me Emerald Sparkle. I've been wanting this color since last year, but couldn't find it. I'm so glad I have this in my collection now... wheee~

Thank you Kalmo for spending time with me!!! :)

OPI Nail Polishes

This is another post that is late... lol~ :X End of last year, I bought quite a few OPI nail polishes, mini and regular size. I bought them all over the place, but mostly at Ulta.
I bought this mini-size collection in Tiny Tinsels. It comes in three glittery colors and one RapiDry Topcoat.
The first glittery color is Berried in Gifts.
The second color is Amethyst Twist.
The third is Silver Belles.

I bought another mini-size collection in Senoritas. It comes with three solid colors, no glitters or anything, and one RapiDry Topcoat.
The first color is Suzi Skis in the Pyrenees. I wore this color out and fell in love with it! If you don't like dark black nail polishes, this one is for you. It's a dark gray color but my friend thought it looked black... hehe~
The second color is No Spain No Gain.
The third color is Pink Flamenco.

They both, mini-size collection, carry RapiDry Topcoat. I will do a quick review on this topcoat since I'm using it right now... hehe~
Product Review: RapiDry Topcoat

Where can you purchase this: any stores that sell nail polishes
Price:
not too sure

Made in USA

Information on the front: Quick drying protection for your nails

My thoughts: I think I've been spoiled by Seche Vite topcoat!... lol~ This doesn't dry out that quickly as it says, as well as, I'm very impatient waiting for it to dry my nails. It takes about 5-10 minutes after you apply the topcoat for the nails to dry *sigh*. It doesn't also put the shine on my nails as Seche Vite does. :/

Pros:
* It's a brand I trust.
* It protects a bit.

Cons:
* Doesn't dry that quickly.
* Doesn't put a shine on the nails.
* Doesn't protect when it's wet.

Would I buy this again? Nope!
Rating: 1/5 Tobey's Paws

Other than the mini-size collection, I bought two full size nail polishes from OPI.
This one is called Merry Midnight. It's such a gorgeous color!!!
The last OPI I'm going to mention is called Shim-Merry Chic. Love it!!! :)
I'm wearing this at the moment (the day I wrote this post). Today, I got a compliment from a stranger about my nail color... wheee~ She wanted to know the name and brand... hehe~

With all these OPI nail polishes, I bought one Orly nail polish... lol~ It feels lonely with these OPI... hehe~
It's called Green with Envy. It'll be a great spring/summer color or at least I think so... hehe~

I'm going to end this post with an earring I bought. I haven't bought one in such a long time. I think it's cute because it's so unique!... hehe~ This student I tutor, a second grader, thought it's ugly. The worst part is she thinks it looks worst on me than by itself... eek~ :/ LOL~

What do you think?

This is a late post, but I believe it's better now than later... hehe~ :D During December, Sephora gave Beauty Insiders a $15 certificate. I really wanted to get the Urban Decay Book of Shadows II, but a lot of things happened. When the hardship was over, the eyeshadow palette was all sold out... lol~ I just think I wasn't meant to get that palette! :X Instead, I bought other stuff... hehe~
I got Urban Decay Get Baked palette, Smith's Rosebud Salve, and Nars eyeshadow. I also picked out three samples; Murad Pomegrante Exfoliating Mask, Dr. Brandt Lineless Lines No More (I already used this product, and I didn't see any difference), and Hanae Mori eau de toilette (I didn't pick this one out).
I've heard good stuff about Smith's Rosebud Perfume Co. salves and thought this might be a good chance to try them... hehe~ I believe but I could be wrong that this is a limited edition!!! They come in a tin with three lipbalms/salve; minted rose, strawberry, and the original rose salve. I can't say much about these since I haven't tried them out yet... lol~ :X Anything related to lipbalms, I tend to open the package when I'm about to use them. This has to get in line with the other lipbalms that I need to use... hehe~
I've been wanting this color for some time and decided it's time for me to get it... hehe~ This is Nars eyeshadow in Galapagos.
I swatched the eyeshadow, middle, and realized it looked very similar to the other colors I have. Nars Galapagos is a little bit darker but when applied on the eye, it looks the same as MAC Mulch and Urban Decay Twice Baked *sigh*. I need to stop buying similar colors!!!... eek~ :X
I did a look with the Nars eyeshadow in Galapagos. If you want detail colors, please ask. Otherwise, I'll just mention I used the Nars Galapagos on the crease and outer V.
The last thing I bought and going to go over is Urban Decay Get Baked eyeshadow palette. It comes in 4 different colors; Twice Baked, Half Baked, Flipside, and Baked.
I swatched the colors on my hand for you. It's from left to right; Twice Baked, Half Baked, Flipside, and Baked.

I did three looks with this palette only using these colors.

#1:
I used Half Baked on the inner half lid, Baked on the outer half lid, and Twice Baked on the outer V and the crease.

#2:
I used Twice Baked on the lid, Half Baked on the inner half crease, and Baked on the outer half crease.

#3:
I used Flipside on the lid, Half Baked on the inner half crease, and Twice Baked on the outer V and crease.

I'm going to end this post with my recent purchase this past weekend... wheee~
I bought this classic Mickey Mouse purse from Disneyland. :)

I signed up for a survey long time ago, I think several months ago, and I finally tried this moisturizer in December... hehe~ I've been using it for a month and I think it's time to review the product.
Product Review: Olay Pro-X Wrinkle Smoothing Cream

Where can you purchase this: any drugstores
Price:
not too sure

Made in USA

Directions on the back: Transform skin at night with Wrinkle Smoothing Cream by smoothing over the face and neck. As with all facial skin care products, avoid getting into your eyes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

My thoughts: I'm actually pretty impressed I must say! During this Winter weather, my face skin has been really dry. I originally have dry skin but I'm super dry during this season. I've been going through different moisturizers looking for something that will work on my facial skin. I've been using this nightly since middle of December, and I don't have a tightness that I do with other moisturizers. It has been hydrating to my skin, at the same time, my skin looks better than usual... lol~ :X Not that better just a little bit. It's better a little than none at all... hehe~ It doesn't get rid of wrinkles, but I do believe it's preventing them or at least I like to think so... hehe~

Pros:
* Mature looking packaging.
* It doesn't look cheap.
* Protective packaging from light waves, as well as, breakage.
* No scent.
* No SPF (I'm allergic). Plus it wouldn't have SPF since it's a nightly used moisturizer.
* Moisturizing.
* Not greasy.
* Great for winter weather.

Cons:
* Thick packaging.
* Not enough product. The net weight is 1 oz.
* Expensive for a drugstore moisturizer.

Would I buy this again? Yup.
Rating: 4.5/5 Tobey's Paws

Last week, I checked out Ulta and bought some stuff.
I got two Montagne Jennesse masks, two Freeman products, and an Essie nail polish. Do you believe I got all this less than $7 and that includes tax!?!?... wheee~ If you get the Ulta monthly advertisement/catalogue, you will see coupons for a BOGO Free on Montagne Jennesse and Freeman products. In the catalogue, there's also a $3.50 off if you buy $10 or more. That's what I did to get all these. This sale goes on for a month I believe so go check out your Ulta store... hehe~
When I saw this in the clearance bin, I had to grab it. I've been wanting this color from Essie for the longest time! It's Mint Candy Apple and I think it's perfect for the Spring/Summer weather... wheee~ :)

Disclaimer: The products mentioned in this post are bought with my own money except for the Olay Pro-X Wrinkle Smoothing Cream. I got that to do a survey for. I am not affiliated with any company nor getting paid to advertise any products. This post is written with my honest opinion.

The past two days I've been working on this new layout. I got the layout from Blogger Templates and had to re-add all the side profiles. I don't know how you bloggers do it in such a short time. I know I'm html illiterate... lol~ :X Please be patient I'll eventually add all the blog links into the blog roll... hehe~ I wanted a new layout with the start of the new year. I think the layout is pretty!... wheee~ :)

I wanted to post a recipe during this winter weather. I think this is a good one... hehe~

If you need some guidance with the ingredients, you can check my Korean Cooking 101. ;)

Ingredients:
1 c. rice
water
2-3 abalone
1-2 carrots
1-2 tbsp. sesame oil
chopped garlic
7-9 c. water
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. fish sauce
dried seaweed
chopped green onion

Step 1:
Wash your white rice and soak it in water for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, you can drain the water out.

Step 2:
Wash the abalone and cut it into small pieces. You will also need to wash the carrot and cut that into small pieces as well.
In a pot (you need with a lid), add sesame oil and garlic. I usually don't add a lot of sesame oil because it has a tangy taste to the porridge I don't like. It requires 2 tbsp but I usually use 1. It is up to you on that... hehe~ Wait until it heats up, and then add the chopped abalone and carrot. Fry it for couple of minutes.
Then add the drained rice from step 1. Fry it for couple of more minutes.
Add the water and cover the pot so the rice can be cooked. You need to check every so minutes with a wooden spoon so the rice won't stick to the bottom of the pot. Towards the end of the cooking, add salt and fish sauce. You will add to your taste bud. ;)
When the porridge is done, transfer it to a bowl. I top it with dried seaweed (toast it on the stove and cut it into small pieces) and green onion. Now you can eat. :)

I bought couple of things in the past month from Victoria's Secret.
I bought these lipglosses in December. My oldest niece was the greatest help in choosing which ones I should get... hehe~ :) I got from left to right; Wondermelon, Have a Gumball, Taffy Go Lucky, Grapefruit Blast, and Slice of Heaven. I only opened one and love (I mean LOVE) the smell. It's delicious!!!... wheee~ I didn't open the others because I'm not too sure what I'm going to do with all of them. I might use all of them because they smell great or who knows I might give it away to friends as gifts... hehe~ ;)

I also bought some lip balms during their semi-annual sale. Jannie mentioned how great they are. You should check out her blog. :) After reading her post on these lip balms, I couldn't refuse when they're on sale for $1.75 each... wheee~
I got one in BananaBerry. I love products with banana in it for some odd reason. I always think they smell good. I hope this one does... wheee~
I also got one in Berry Blender. I just love the multi-colored lip balms... hehe~ I can't say how I feel about these babies yet. It'll have to wait until I finish my lip balm I'm using at the moment (Etude House thanks to a friend). I'm very good when it comes to not opening my lip balms until it gets it's use... hehe~ I wish I could say the same for other stuff. :X

One of the things I look forward to towards the end of the year/beginning of the New Year is the Korean music awards (KBS, MBC, and SBS gayo daejun). I realized the singer/group I loved in 2009 was 2 pm!!! :) Here's some of the songs I love... hehe~

Again and Again:

I Hate You:

Heartbeat:

They also performed some of the female songs during the SBS award show, and I thought 2 pm looked mighty cute... hehe~ :)

Mister originally by Kara, but performed by Beat and 2 pm:

Bo Peep Bo Peep by T-ara, but performed by 2 pm:
