I bought this nail polish from Color Club last year.
Product Review: Color Club in Chalk It Up
Where to purchase: online at colorclub.com
Price: $8.50 for 15 mL/0.5 fl oz
Made in USA
Thoughts: Last year, I was on a hunt for a thick white polish. I wanted to use it for nail art but that's a different story. I heard Color Club is a good brand for thick polishes. For this reason, I bought one.
Here's a closer look at the color.
Here's a closer look at the brush. Compared to OPI, the brush is thinner and slightly shorter. It's short by just a little bit. The width I would consider on the thin side.
I applied OPI Nail Envy in Original, Madam Glam Gelementary Gel-Like Base Coat, two coats of Color Club in Chalk It Up, and topped all the nails with Essie Good To Go Top Coat.
Now for my overall opinion... First of all, the brush isn't something I would reach for. It's on the thin side but for the consistency, it makes sense. I just did not wipe the brush in the inside of the bottle. It helped spread the polish on each nails. With that said, it was doable around the cuticles and sides. If you are more an experienced painter, it should be easy. Being lazy and inpatient, I went quick around the cuticles. Secondly, I like the packaging. It reminds me ice for some odd reason. I think it's cool. With that said, it's well-made and sturdy. It's made out of thick glass. The top is also sturdy. I can feel a tight seal when I open and close. I cannot see it open or break unless you are rough with the packaging. For this reason, it's travel-friendly. It's easy to throw in your purse, bag, and even your pocket. It's also easy to hold with one hand. Third, the consistency is creamy and in-between medium to thick. It's not too thick that it's hard to work with. It's also not too thin that it runs. It's a good consistency but you do have to work fast. It gets hard with usage. It's expected with thicker polishes, as well as, pastel white. With that said, it's easy to use. It goes on smoothly, and there are no streaking and bubbles. It does dry matte though. If you want to shine the polish which is what I did, you need a nice shiny top coat. Fourth, the color is white and it's good for spring and summer season. Pigmentation-wise it's definitely up there. It's pretty pigmented. Two coats were good enough for my skin tone. Lastly, I saw chipping on the tips on the fifth day. It's small but since the polish is so white, you can see it. I did not see shrinkage whatsoever. I'm glad I got to try this polish. It's a good polish for a white color.
