The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

End of last year, I bought couple of samples from The Body Shop. One of the things I bought was the Vitamin E Hydrating Toner. Since not many people review The Body Shop, I decided to review this one... hehe~

Product Review: The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner

Where can you purchase this: The Body Shop or online at thebodyshop-usa.com
Price: $12 for7 fl oz (I bought the 2 fl oz sample one)

Made in UK

Direction on the back: Removes traces of makeup-up and cleanser, prepares the skin to absorb moisturizer.

My thoughts: To be honest, I didn't know what to expect.  I had no expectation.  Okay that was a lie... lol~ :X I love their body butter (click here for my review on body butters) so I expected a lot from this brand, but on the other side, I didn't expect much because I didn't like their sample moisturizer I bought... hehe~ I actually liked this product for several reasons; it's for all skin, alcohol-free, not tested on animals, and it didn't dry out my skin... wheee~ I felt that it cleaned my face since I could see blackness on the cotton pad, but on the other hand, I think my face will absorb anything applied to it since I have dry skin... hehe~ Thankfully, my face isn't that dry compared to the winter weather... wheee~ I started using this sample size since January and I did notice dryness in the beginning when my skin was extremely dry from the winter weather. Now that it's not that dry, it seems okay.

Pros:
* For all skin type.
* Alcohol-free.
* Not tested on animals.
* Comes from a brand, The Body Shop, that is organic.
* Vitamin E.
* The smell is decent.

Cons:
* Definitely not for someone with extremely dry skin.

Would I buy this again? I just finished one sample bottle and have another to go. I will decided after I finish the second bottle... hehe~
Rating: [Color+Paw.jpg][Color+Paw.jpg][Color+Paw.jpg] 4/5 Tobey's Paws

Hints of toning your face:
* I usually soak toner on a cotton pad and wipe it around my face, behind the ears, and neck.
* When you wipe your face, don't apply roughly especially the sensitive areas like around your eyes. I've been doing this for years and started being more gentle on my skin.  My skin has improved. PLEASE don't make the mistake I did!... lol~ :X

I'm sure you guys know all this, but I don't want people to make the mistakes I did... hehe~ That's why I needed an older sister or a mother who was into cosmetics instead of learning all this myself *sigh*.

Other The Body Shop products reviewed/swatch:
 Body Butter
Body Scrub
Duo Eyeshadow
Eye Lustre Liner

I wanted to review Max Factor PenSilks eyeliners, but I don't see a purpose when they don't sell Max Factor in the US anymore... hehe~  For that reason, I will quickly talk about it and move on... wheee~
I bought this eyeliner long time ago actually it's my second one. When I bought the first one, I only used it for a week until my cousin's wife took it back with her to Korea. She wanted it so I gave it to her. She used it for couple of weeks and told me how much she loved it. For that reason, I bought another one but never used it until recently.
This is how the eyeliner looked on my hand. The color in my opinion isn't bad... hehe~
After couple of rubbing, this is how the eyeliner looks. Oh mi gosh! :/
What I hated about this eyeliner is that after I apply it and curl my eyelashes, you will see in the next picture... hehe~ :P
The color rubs off and I see it on the eyelash curler. See how it's not as dark as the picture above? :/ So what I do now is curl my eyelashes and apply the eyeliner after. I would so throw this pencil away, but it's such a waste. I'm still using it but hot dang it's taking forever to finish... lol~ :X It also can be tough on the eyes especially if your lids are dry. You kind of have to tug on the lids to glide the pencil. When your lids aren't dry, then you don't need to tug.  I also noticed smudging and fading throughout the day. Basically, I don't think highly of this eye pencil... lol~ :X The weird thing is it got such a good rating on Makeup Alley (click here to read the review). :/

If you're wondering about my eye makeup, I used Visee (click here for my post).

I have their vit e night cream but haven't tried it yet. I'm wondering if it suits oily skin or not.

I'm glad TBS toner works for you. I don't have a lot of luck with Max Factor. I don't miss it when it's gone, not at all. That pencil may be more suitable for you to do a quick smokey eyed look without using any eye shadows.

Pencil liners never seem to work for my upper lashline only my lower =( they always smear and rub so I need cream or liquid lol

I love this toner! I find it very gentle for my skin. And one full sized bottle lasts me a loooong time. :D

So true about TBS not getting a lot of play in the blogosphere. Thanks for the review! I LOLed when I read "hot dang" b/c I used to say this a lot! XP Is Max Factor just sold abroad now? I can't say I miss it too much due to the whole case with the heir to the company. =\ But I'm like you too. I'll use a mediocre product b/c it seems like a waste to just toss...lol.

Ahhh, so this is THE Max Factor liner. It sounds terrible!!

I finished a bottle of the Vitamin E toner a long time ago, I can't remember whether I like it or not, but thanks for reminding me about it. I'll check it out again haha XD

I have yet to find my HG toner. It seems that everything is not working out for me. I still keep on breaking out. I'm not sure if this toner is available here in the Philippines. It's kinda pricey though. *grins*

Lots of love,

PS, thanks for visiting my blog *hugs*

Hi, thanks for following my lil start up blog =) I've never had luck with Max factor, but I hear there mascaras are good. I remember buying some eyeshadows and they were barely pigmented.

I know what you mean. Totally don't need a ton of stuff. Yet I seem to keep buying. =\ Give me some of your willpower plz.

Here's the Wiki page on Andrew Luster (the heir):

I actually love TBS's Vit E line, their intense moisture cream is my HG!
It's a pity that the company was sold to L'Oreal, a company that still does animal testing :(
I'm so bummed that they no longer sell MaxFactor in North America, their 2000 Calorie mascara is my all time favourite mascara!

lol.. I guess we're both still on an eternal quest to find something that'll shrink our pores.. =P

I've never paid much attention to TBS skincare, much prefer their body lotions/butters.. this one might deserve a 2nd look =)

Hey babes, L'Oreal took over TBS about 4 years ago already. I rem it was a big hoo ha cos a lot of TBS's customers and staff were all with the company cos of its no animal testing policy. I think the founder of TBS actually came out to make a half assed attempt to defend her decision to sell.
I knew a couple of SAs that actually left TBS after its takeover.

I LOVE Body Shop! Most of my lotions are from there. I have the Vit E toner but it doesn't work that good on me. But I'm still a Body Shop fan and I particularly love the Vit E and Aloe line :)

It's really tempting to rub your face really hard with cotton pads xD I think I am guilty of that crime too!!

Thanks for the mini review of the Maxfactor liner too! I will definitely be having a look to see if our UK drugstores stock it. =)

Products w/ high ratings on Makeupalley doesn't work on me sometimes. SAD! But I'm sure if you put some powder shadows on top - you'll be good to go. I haven't tried anything @ The Body Shop. I just haven't been that interested I guess. But you're right, the body butter is pretty awesome.
