Maybelline Haul

Several weeks ago, it actually might be a month by now, I bought quite a few Maybelline products (click here to see my posts on past Maybelline products)... hehe~  For someone who wasn't into Maybelline and thought they weren't good, it sure has changed my opinion within the last several months... hehe~ :X

Ulta had a sale last month, buy two get one free deal, which isn't that cheap if you think about it.  The one thing good about Ulta is that you can use coupons, theirs and the products itself.  If you add all the coupons to the sale, it actually comes out pretty decent... wheee~ :)  Now for what I bought...

The first three things, one being a freebie, were...
a Maybelline palette in Buzz-Worthy Bronze.  I thought the colors were gorgeous and I have been into greens lately!... hehe~
Here is the swatch of the eyeshadow palette clockwise from bottom left (brow bone, lid, crease, and outer corner).
Here's a look I came up with.  I really did like this look, but I decided to return it and exchange it for something I don't have... hehe~ :X  I came to a realization how many greens do I need eh. :X

The second thing I got was...
Maybelline blush in Pinch of Peach.  I have been into peach colored blushes and feel like I need to make up for the one I didn't get, MAC blush in Ripe Peach (it's sold out)... hehe~  I thought the blush was gorgeous with the flower pattern.  I know it's hard to see in this picture but it's there.
Here's a swatch of the blush on my hand.
Here's how the blush look on me.  I was really disappointed because I had to layered for it to show slightly.  This product was bad y'all!!!... hehe~  I regretted getting it so I went back to exchange it... hehe~

The third thing I got was...
Maybelline EyeStudio palette in #50 Taupe Temptress.
Here's a swatch of the eyeshadows from the palette from left to right.
Here's a look I came up with from the palette.  I actually liked it! :)  It's not my typical neutral browns or golds which is a plus, but at the same time, it's on the neutral side.  I'm sure you guys are bored with my browns and golds... hehe~ :X  This is the only thing I decided to keep. :X

I exchanged the first two with another Maybelline EyeStudio palette and a mouse concealer, this one is a gift for someone's birthday gift... hehe~  She knows who it is. ;)
The EyeStudio palette I got in #110 Legendary Lilac.
Here's a swatch of it from the left to right.  I wasn't blown away with the swatch to be honest... hehe~ :X
I actually liked it on though!... wheee~ :)  I can't seem to pull off full on purple/lilac color.  I need some pink on my eyes for it to look decent... hehe~

Yup, you certainly have become more of a Maybelline fan recently :)

Taupe Temptress looks fabulous on you! A pink neutral look!!

I'm not that into Legendary Lilac, the plum shade isn't my cup of tea =(

Your swatches/looks makes me want to buckle and buy Maybelline. But I refuse to support Maybelline Canada because of the whole stupid Asian Eyes issue. I wouldn't oppose it if I had bought them in the US, which I am hoping to do in the near future XD I hope it doesn't fall through this time.

Have u ever done something drastic just to prove a point? sigh well that was me with Maybelline. Pity cos I really want those Eyestudio palettes!
Drugstore brands are coming up with some pretty decent stuff lately.

The blush looks so pretty on you! And of course I love your EOTDs. What a great haul =D Silly q, but does Ulta take manufacturer's coupons? I'm still a bit of an Ulta newb...hehe.

Maybelline (and other drugstore brands) have come out w/ a lot of great stuff. I can't wait til I try the new shadows from them! 40% a lot of stuff at Ulta in a few weeks.

love the new eye studio quad ^_^

Great Maybelline buys Alyssa! Thanks for the swatches, too bad you didn't like some stuff but it's better that you get stuff that you love. I was tempted to get that blush because of the cute flower imprint and our conversations but now I won't because it's not pigmented at all, thanks for the heads up. :) The pink/brown and purple EOTDs are super cute and romantic, nice job.

I like the lilac palette too. I agree about the pink, for me the pink pulls the look from a bruised eye to beautiful! Haha

yay for maybelline haul. :D i do love their lip stuff. especially those shinesensational glosses. i need to start buying those megashine diamond glosses (is that what they're called?) again. i remember how i used to buy those like crazy a few years back. hehe... i haven't bought their eyeshadows in a while either. i haven't been buying them because i got allergic to their color delights one. my lids got all puffy and red. i don't know if you remember those. they were little cream shadow quads in a pot. maybe the powder eyeshadows will work better on me. :)

speaking of eyeshadows, the purple quad is GORGEOUS on you. :D i knew you can rock purple/lilac. you have the pretty eyes for it. i got to see a pic of half your face. you are very beautiful. the lipstick you're wearing (if you are wearing any) is very pretty too. :)

yup, i love drugstore products too and buy a lot of it. especially lashblast. hehe... this guy and lady at CVS already know me because i constantly buy makeup, soup, and ice cream there. lol.

to answer your question, yes, i still do live with my parents. well, on and off. hehe... :)

so far, i haven't heard of any earthquake since yesterday. yeah. *knock on wood too* i wish there won't be anymore. they are harder here too, so they're scarier. i'm so glad we had a peaceful day at work yesterday without getting evacuated like last week. lol. :)

I have the Maybelline EyeStudio in Taupe Temptress as well, but it's so shimmery! It looks so matte on your eye, what did you to do achieve that?

Anonymous: Thank you for visiting my blog, as well as, commenting! :) I noticed one thing about EyeStudio palettes. They're glittery/shiny on top but once you go down, it becomes less. I just used UDPP then I applied MAC Paint Pot in Painterly on top. I used the second shadow from the left on the lid, third color on the crease, and the fourth color on the outer V. I made sure I didn't use the top layers for the lid... hehe~ I hope I answered your question. If not, feel free to ask. :)

lol. eek. i didn't know the :) would show up everywhere else other than my profile. hehehe... thank you for catching that. i changed it back to "jannie" already. i would not want to have no name at all. oh yeah, i noticed your userpic is back on my list of followers instead of the blank pic saying aly4realz. it's a good thing that got fixed by google reader. :)

that color delights eyeshadow is rather old. i remember it was out on the counters in 2004. i had to throw them out after 5 uses, maybe. sorry about your reaction to SPF. it's a good thing you found a sunscreen (i remember you posted a pic of a neutrogena one) that works for you. i hope there are other sunblocking alternatives that will work for you too. as for me, i stay out of the sun. if i do go to the beach, i have to use very powerful sunscreen or i'd turn as red as a lobster.

your natural lip color is very pretty. :D you're probably one of the first people i know of with naturally light pink lips. it's the perfect tint. it's like a light, rosy pink. :)

the evacuation from the store didn't last too long. we were standing outside for a good five minutes, then we were told to go back in again. some people were so scared, they rushed to buy their things and made a mad dash home. i know i would go home fast too if i were them.

is TOGO's like a store or something? i don't think we have one around here. well, not that i know of anyway. hehe... it sure is funny when people from stores recognize you. thank goodness they don't know me on a first-name basis...oh, wait. actually, the lady knows my name. she sometimes forgets though. lol.

yup. i agree. nothing wrong at all with living with parents. plus, there's always company. :D

Those Eyestudio palettes look great!! Now I'm kinda regretting not hauling them when I was in the US earlier this year.. darn it..

I love the first palette! Looks like something I'd use often :)

Maybelline has released some really nice products lately. I love the palettes and the looks you did with them are so pretty!

lol there isn't a difference that I know of, its just that Im pissed off with how the Maybelline Canada side handled the Asian Eyes thing, so I have just banned them for myself. If I buy in the US, I feel that at the very least, the funding goes towards the American one, not the Canadian...lol...yeah...thats my weird logic HAHA...
ps, Ill be posting about the marcelle gloss soon...but it isn't that colour IRL :( I was so sad too >_<

The Buzz-Worthy Bronze looks awesome!! I think I'll try them :)

Thank you for the response! :) That helps a lot. I will be visiting your blog more often, hehe.

I've heard lots of good reviews on the eyeshadow quads so I got one in Lavender Fields. I'm really unhappy with the pigmentation so I'll be returning it soon. Do you think it is just that one with the pigmentation problem? How is the pigmentation of Buzz-worthy Bronze?

¿ë‚˜ë””ì•„? said...

have you ever tried to wear a bold white eye shadow? I think it would look fabulous on you. if you would like I could make a post about it, to give you some ideas.

Love both looks, very pretty! I can never get tired of neutral looks ;)

Ooh, nice! I'll have to make sure I have my coupons ready the next time I head to Ulta...hee hee.

Anonymous: I'm glad I could had been a help! :)

Soo Jin: I remember you had a blog but I can't seem to find it. Sorry! I clicked on your profile but it said no profile listed.

I don't know many of the Maybelline palettes, but I do know the smoky ones are pretty pigmented. I think most of my eyeshadows become more pigmented than it is because I use UDPP and on top of that a cream shadow like MAC Paint Pots. They really help adhere the eyeshadows.

Speaking of Buzz-Worthy Bronze, I think it's okay pigmentation. I think it could be a little more pigmented but it's okay on the eyes when I put it on top of UDPP and MAC Paint Pot.

I hope I answered your question! :)

hey, ahleessa! ah. no worries. actually, your reply did not take long at all. :) and yes, there are some nights when i don't have time to log on either. they're rare, but computerless nights sometimes come in handy. hehehe...

about freckles, i think they're actually cute. you look cute with them. plus, they give a youthful and girly look. :) i remember there was this covergirl model that had freckles. i don't remember her name, but she was beautiful. :) i like how they can be a trademark too. kinda like moles or beauty marks. i've always wanted something like that on my face.

thanks for the TOGO's URL. ahhh... there is one kinda near me. unfortunately, it's close to my ex-boyfriend's condo. eek. oh, well... he doesn't go there, so i know i'll be safe there. hehehe... i just want a sandwich. theirs look good. :D

gosh. the thought of food is making me hungry again even though i've had quite a lunch already. lol. you take care and enjoy your evening. :)

Soo Jin said...

Thanks Alyssa! Yesterday I went to Ulta to look at the other eyeshadow palettes and decided that I'll try to stick with my safe MAC eyeshadows. Oh, but recently I've been tempted to buy LORAC eyeshadows because of the super soft texture. :) My blog is abeautyfullday.com <3

omg you are wayyyy too technical woman! lol
seriously though, just forget the comment I made about Maybelline cause it seems that I'm messing with your thought process on it.

So yes, lets leave it at that. *Poof* gone from living existence...
would would actually be easier if I could delete my comments lol

holy shizz! THANK GOODNESS!
I was totally thinking..."I thought I knew this gal just a bit...what the heck?!"
Phew, disaster averted. lol

Girl, I am so sure you *don't* have fat feet! Anyways, definitely check 'em out! =D

Jannie said...

i'll check out TOGO's once i'm in the area. hehe... i'm up for very, very fresh sandwiches and new sandwiches too. hehe... what's your favorite there? i like pretty much anything with roast beef, turkey, or chicken on it. talking about it makes me hungry. lol.

wow. you have quite a collection of NARS blushes too. hehe... i'd like to try sin and angelica. :) especially angelica. it's a pretty pink shade. :) lol. they do have some crazy blush colors. like exhibit b or is it a? i know it's kinda like a bright, crazy red. yeah, that kinda does look clowny. hehehe... i would get it, but i'll probably use a light hand or something to prevent a clownish result. i've always wanted mata hari, but can never find it. it's light pink too.

in case i go to the outlet, i'll let you know if they still carry guilt by association. ooh. i love that color. i have it too. hehe... that's one of the two things i have from the style black collection. i was going to get the black lipstick, but missed out. would've been great for halloween. that's why. i'm not brave enough to wear black lipstick every day. lol.

ooh. thanks for the jcp friends and family heads up. if only i had access to a printer to print out a coupon. that would've been handy for another kat von d palette. i want the blue one now. hehe... it's so pretty. :)

hopefully i'll get to go to the outlet tomorrow. it would be nice to go somewhere else other than work for a change. lol. take care and enjoy your weekend. :)

Jannie said...

wow. thanks for the really sweet compliment on my pics. :) especially about my smile. i'll try to smile more often in pics. i'm not ready to show teeth yet, but i will do more smiles like the second pic. hehe... :D

the sandwiches at TOGO's sound really, really yummy. the salads too. i can't help but crave asian chicken salad right now. hehe... speaking of sandwich, i had one today. it was at quizno's though because that was the only sandwich place available. :P

unfortunately, i did not get to go to the outlet. i wonder when. i really would like to go to the CCO. instead, we went to miramar because my parents had to do some grocery shopping. there's a MCAS next to it where i ended up getting a bag. i got it on clearance too. me and my clearance racks. lol.

yup, guilt by association does look kinda brownish and glittery. that looks so nice over a black base. it looks kinda golden too and i know how much you love golds and bronzes. :) that'll look nice on you. hopefully the CCO does carry it. maybe it will. it is from a rather recent collection, so it should probably be there. :)

yeah, i'll probably borrow my brother's printer or somebody's in case there are coupons to print out. they always come in handy. plus, i heard penney's also has an online customer satisfaction survey that'll give you 15% off for taking it. every little bit does help. :)

Ooo I have this quad too. Actually I have 7 of the eyestudio quads =) Kudos for getting good deals on it and using coupons. I don't know why some people are so averse to coupons...it's the only way to buy drugstore makeup =)

Ahleessa said...

Lisa: Thank you for visiting my blog, as well as, commenting! :) I clicked on your profile and there was nothing written in your blog. For that reason, I am responding here. I hope you get to read it... hehe~ :)

I think I became a coupon/save as much as you can during this past years. I think with the financial issues it's very good to save or at least it is for me... hehe~

So which EyeStudio palettes do you have since you have 7? I can't wait to hear which ones you have and which ones you like... hehe~ :)

a boss said...

I just put a quick pic of the quads I have up (just for you =P). I kind of just have a blog to work out my deals week to week, but I think I'd feel like too much a geek to publicly post lol. I did want to comment though. I recently purchased the quads so I haven't gotten a chance to play with them all. I think I like em all! Too shimmery for everyday tho, but the colors are so pretty! I really like Green with Envy...and of Color Pearl duos I like Carbon Frost and Mocha Mirage. =) But I really just have a collecting problem too. I really like the gel liners too lol. Drugstore stuff is def. getting better!

Ahleessa said...

Lisa: I tried going to your blog but I can't seem to find it in your profile. :/ I saw it quickly this morning before heading out. I wanted to comment but didn't have time. Now that I'm ready to comment, the blog link is gone... hehe~

What colors are the Mocha Mirage? I remember seeing that one and liking it, but I wasn't too sure if I would like it in person.

If you have a collection problem, you definitely shouldn't start a blog... lol~ :X I swear I have more junk now that I have a blog than I ever did when I didn't even have a blog. Even my friend told me my makeup collection is insane and it never was like that before *sigh*... lol~ :X

Thanks for commenting back here! :)

Chichi said...

So you returned and exchanged the items even AFTER using them? That's pretty low... Maybelline is cheap stuff, it's not like it was MAC. What was the point of returning it...

Ahleessa said...

Chichi: First of all, it'll be nice to be able to tell you instead of using an anonymous nickname and have to comment back on my own post.

Secondly, it all depends on how you see it. If you think returning Maybelline products is wrong, then it's wrong to return MAC products as well. It doesn't matter the cost of the products if you think returning is wrong. I see that it all depends on the cost/money issue with you. If you are a beauty addict unfortunately like most beauty bloggers, buying beauty products end up costing a lot when you add them up. Why is it wrong to return something that you know you won't use? Isn't better to save up money then consume tons of products you will never use? I think it's easier not to return MAC/department stores products than drugstores. You get to test the products out at the departments and know if you will like them. Unfortunately with drugstore, you cannot test them out to see if you like them. You come home and put it on, and it's nothing like what you expected. You're telling me to throw these products I will never use in my closest and waste money. I rather spend money to something I know I will use. If this is so wrong, why does drugstore have a return policy on used cosmetics? What about foundations you buy from drugstores and it doesn't even match you?

Thirdly, telling someone is low because you cannot relate tells me something about you. You need to see who you are before you call other people things!!!
