The last couple of weeks of being sick, my nails gotten weaker. For that reason, I taking a break until it gets stronger. Even though I'm not posting Manicure Monday, it's still be nail related. When I heard OPI came out with Glitter Off, I had to get one.

Product Review: OPI Glitter Off Base Coat

Where to purchase: ULTA and online at opi.com
Price: $9 for 15 mL/ 0.5 fl oz

Made in USA

Thoughts: When I first heard about using glue as a base coat to remove glitter nail polishes, I thought it's such a genius idea! Even though I knew about the idea, it was one of those things I never took action to buy glue. Then OPI came with their own version of glue, it just was easier to purchase.
Here's a closer picture of Glitter Off. It's very true to color when you apply it onto your nails.
Here's a picture of the brush. The width of the brush is like every other OPI nail polishes. I consider this as the medium width.
Here's how Glitter Off looks on my nails. The white part is where it's still wet. The dry part is where it looks like my natural nail.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, it smells like glue in the bottle as well as while you're applying onto your nails. Once it dries on your nails, you hardly smell the glue. Secondly, you apply your glitter polishes once Glitter Off dries and looks like your natural nail. In my case, I used Liquid Sands in You're so Flippy Floppy. It looked and felt dried but I did notice something. The next day, probably 12+ hours later, I spilled food and licked my finger. Yes, I know it's gross but I did it without thinking. This is the gross part! It tasted like glue. :/ That's when I realized it wasn't completely dry, as well as, I noticed a teeth mark on the nail. It took 24 hours to completely dry without getting dents on the polish. Lastly, it's easy to use. You just need a thin layer. It takes a minute or two for it to change from white to clear. There's also no streaking and bubbles. It's a very easy base coat to use. With that said, I did notice chipping at the tips and shrinkage on the third day. Not everyone is like this, but my childhood came back. Do you remember the days when you apply a thin layer on your skin, you let it dry, and then peel it off? I got glue happy and started peeling all the polishes on the third day. I don't think Glitter Off is made for someone like me. I found it relaxing and fun peeling off the polishes. Yes, I have issues. I'll probably will not use this again for Liquid Sands, but definitely will save it for glitter polishes that are hard to remove.

Pros:
* Alternate version of glue.
* Medium width brush.
* Dries quickly.
* Initial dryness is quick.
* Easy to use.
* No streaking and bubbles.
* Lasting power is 3 days.
* Easy to remove glitter polishes.

Cons:
* Initially, as well as from the bottle, it smells like glue.
* Complete dryness takes at least 24 hours.

Would repurchase: Maybe.

Oh I loved to peel the glue off my hand when I was a child haha! This product sounds great but it takes a very long time for the polish to completely dry :(

oh wow! great review ahleesa. i didn't even know about this product. hahaha i swore off glitter polishes because they were such a pain to remove. what i don't like is having to polish my nails, wait 24 hours for that to dry and then applying a glitter polish. then you peel it off? hmph :D LOL

Honestly, it felt dried like normal polishes. Who would have though the next day, it'll scratch and make a dent. :/

You apply the base coat and let it dry. It takes a minute or two, and becomes clear. Then you can put your polishes right after. The process is the same as normal polishes. I thought it was dried then the next day, I accidentally scratched the nail. It went through and made a dent. For that reason, I knew it wasn't completely dry even though it looked dry. Does that make sense? :/ Sorry I'm really terrible at explaining.
