In January 2017, I was fortunate to attend IMATS LA 2017.

I took this picture from my Instagram. Here are the things I purchased that day. The first brand I attended was MAC (middle left).
I purchased two of their new colors from the Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour and they were kind enough to give me MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil. For this post, I will review one of the Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour.

Thoughts: Honestly, I visited MAC to see what is new with the brand. I wasn't planning on getting anything but the salesperson convinced me. She told me these new colors are new to the brand. Out of curiosity, I decided to check it out and they're liquid lipsticks. If you know me, I've been into liquid lipsticks for years and I'm still into them. Plus, this particular color stood out to me. It's so my color!
Here's a closer look at the color. The website describes it as "creamy dirty rose." Honestly, I thought it was more on the nude side with warm tones like orange.
Here's a closer look at the applicator. It's not a typical liquid lipstick doe foot applicator where one side of the tip is slanted. It's more a curve with both ends being flat. It has a dip in the center where it picks up the color. It's similar to YSL lip applicators.
Here's a swatch of the liquid lipstick on my hand.
Here's how the color looks on me.
Here's an overall look with Kate Eye Shadow in BR-1 on the eyes.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, there's a slight vanilla scent while applying. It's so minimal that sometimes I don't even notice the scent. I just sniffed the product and it's refreshing. It smells like a lot of liquid lipsticks. It has that slight chemical scent. Secondly, I like the packaging. It goes with the theme of MAC lip products. It has that bullet type packaging but it's only at the top. Unlike their lipsticks, it has a see through. You can distinguish the colors if you own more than one liquid lipsticks. It's sturdy and well-made. I cannot see it leak or break unless you are rough with the packaging. For that reason, it's travel-friendly. I also like the applicator. It reminds me of YSL liquid lip products. It has that curve applicator that is flat on both sides. In the center, there's a dip where it grabs the lip product. The dip grabs enough that I don't need to re-dip into the product. The pointy part helps outline the lips and the center to fill the remaining of the lips. Third, the consistency is like most liquid lipsticks. It's liquidity but not the point it's watery. It has a slight creamy texture which makes it easy to work with. It glides on the lips and does not tug. With that said, it goes on easily and dries within minutes. It's not the most fastest drying liquid lipsticks but it's not the slowest. From my experience, the thinner the layer the faster it dries. I highly recommend a thin layer with this liquid lipstick. The thicker shows all the deep lines on your lips like the picture above. I don't know why that day I applied a thick layer. I wasn't in the right mind. Fourth, the color is gorgeous! It's my typical color that I would wear in everyday basis. Not only that, it's great all year round and you can wear it for day and night out. With that said, it's pigmented. I was pretty impressed. You don't need to layer the colors. A thin layer is good enough. Lastly, it lasted until I ate. I noticed the grease from the food would soften the center of the lips. From the softness, I would see stain on the cup and on my napkin while wiping the stain from the food. It's only on the inside of the lips but that's with a lot of liquid lipsticks or at least on me. With that said, the outline would last until the end of the day unless I wipe it off totally. It's extremely comfortable and not drying at all. I did not see any white residue at the center of the lips.
