When I saw the newest lip product from Revlon at Walmart, I had to get one at least.
Product Review: Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor in #710 HD Desert
Where to purchase: drugstores, mass merchandiser, and online at revlon.com
Price: $8-10 for 0.06 oz/1.7 g
Description from the website: Get high-definition, lightweight color with NEW Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor. Intensely hydrating formula with hyaluronic acid. Available in 15 high-definition shades.
Thoughts: I couldn't decide between this and HD Arabica, but I decided to be safe with this.
Here's a closer look at the lip color.
I twisted the product until I got the bottom. This is the overall amount of the lip product.
Here's a swatch of the lip color on my hand.
Here's how it looks on me.
Here's an overall look with the new The Body Shop eyeshadow palette which I will review.
Now for my overall opinion... First of all, there's a strong scent while applying. I just sniffed the product and I'm not too sure what the smell is. It's not chemically but more like a mixture of smells. I feel like I smell vanilla and coffee. I just checked the website and it said "creamy mango and whipped vanilla fragrance." I have to say it's not my favorite smell! Thankfully, it lasts for couple of minutes. Secondly, the packaging is pretty cute. It's a typical tube packaging. I like how the color of the tube matches the lip color. When I was choosing the color I wanted to purchase, it was clear what the color is but at the same time it was kind of difficult. The shininess/metallic look of the packaging played with my head. It might just be me. With that said, you can feel the twist or hear a slight noise when you initially twist up and end the last twist down. It's kind of hard to explain but you will know what I mean if you own one. It's sturdy, there aren't any marks or scratches on the packaging, and very travel-friendly. Third, it has a creamy consistency. With that said, it goes on smoothly and there's a slight tugging. The slight tugging comes from having dry lips. When I apply on top of lip balm, there's no tugging involved. Also, the shape of the lip product makes it easy to apply. It's easy to outline the outside of the lips and get close to the sides. Fourth, the color of HD Desert is gorgeous. I wish the website described the color. I have to say it's a great color all year round. With that said if you're looking for a matte lip color, this isn't it. It has a slight sheen from the shininess. It's not glittery or metallic. Also, it's more on the sheer to medium pigmentation. It's not the most pigmented lip color. For that reason, I think it's a great my lip but better color. Lastly, the color lasted until I ate/drank. I have a tendency to wipe my mouth after I eat. For that reason, it doesn't last that long on me. It also did not dry out my lips. I didn't see any white residue from dryness. It's extremely comfortable on the lips. It also hydrated with usage. It's a great hydrating product especially for this dry, winter weather.
Pros:
* Cute, sturdy packaging.
* Color of the tube matches the color of the lip product.
* Travel-friendly.
* Creamy consistency.
* Applies smoothly.
* Easy to outline the lips and the sides.
* Great color all year round.
* Slight shininess.
* Great my lip but better color.
* Comfortable.
* Hydrates with usage.
* Lasted until I ate/drank.
Cons:
* Strong scent while applying.
* Sheer to medium pigmentation.
Would repurchase: Maybe (I just couldn't deal with the smell).
