Skin Food Gingko Green BB Cream

I've been using Skin Food Gingko Green BB cream since the beginning of this year, 2010. I think it's about time I review this product... hehe~

Product Review: Skin Food Gingko Green BB Cream in Shade #2

Where can you purchase this: Korean beauty store, Skin Food store, Korea, or online
Price: cannot remember about I believe it was around $20

Made in Korea

Information on the back: This product is formulated with Gingko and green tea extracts, which are full of beauty enhancing ingredients like lecithin and Vitamin B to moisturize and nourish the skin. This is a multi function skin care product for both skin correction and skin protection.

My thoughts: Before I start, BB stands for blemish balm or base. You would think it's for people with acne problems but anyone can use it even I with dry skin. If you're looking for a foundation/BB cream that isn't on the medium to thick side, then this isn't for you. ;)

Most people think BB creams started in Korea, but in some ways it did and some ways it didn't... hehe~ Korea are the first people who thought of this idea, but it was actually made in Germany. My sister-in-law used one made from Germany and hot dang it's pretty expensive! It cost more than $100 and it looks like a cream moisturizer. For some odd reason, a lot of the less expensive ones come in tubes like the one I'm reviewing... hehe~

Now that you know a little history of BB creams, now to my review... hehe~ :D I spread this around my face with my fingers (make sure it's clean), therefore, it's actually better that it comes in a tube than a bottle. I'm not a professional when it comes to BB creams, but I do love the thick consistency. It covers my freckles better than most foundations... lol~ :X I am very happy with BB creams except for one thing. I noticed a lot of BB creams come in only two shades. I don't know why when there are so many different skin tones. :/ I know in Korea being pale is looked upon but still... hehe~ I got the darker shade, #2, and it still looks paler than my NC35 (that's what I am at the moment). Since I love my BB creams so much, I darken it up with a darker powder afterwards. That might be an option for those people who love BB creams and it doesn't come in your shade... hehe~ ;)

Pros:
* Medium to thick consistency.

* It hides some of the flaws.
* Comes in a tube.
* For all skin types.
* Don't need a brush.
* A little goes a long ways.
* The scent isn't overbearing.

Cons:
* Only two shades available.

* Hard to find in the US unless you buy online.

Would I buy this again? Yes and No. I might try other brands to compare in the future.

Here's a swatch on my hand.
It looks like it'll fit my skin tone, but that was my winter skin. During this summer weather, I'm much darker... hehe~
Here's how the BB cream looks on me. I darken it up with a dark powder to match my skin.

I haven't bought jewelries in a long time, but I couldn't resist with these. I told myself it's okay it can be my birthday gifts... hehe~
This is such a gorgeous necklace. The picture doesn't do it justice!!! It's a heart-shaped crystal with a blue-shaped rose inside. The rose shaped is hard to see here, but it's nice in person I promise... hehe~ I love this necklace because it's blue, my favorite color, and I love blue rose. I think blue rose are so unique and beautiful... hehe~
I also bought this dangling bracelet. I love dangling bracelets even though they're out of style now... hehe~ :X I love the simplicity of the colors, as well as, the silver leaves. :)

Happy Bday :D Always good to spoil yourself once in a while. I am pretty interested in BB Creams but since it is so hard to find, I'll just stick to looking for a tinted moisturizer for now... The Revlon one is on sale... kinda excited for that.

Hi Ahleessa!

I missed reading your blog, and of course I missed you too.

BB cream is hot here in the Philippines. A lot of Filipinas go gaga over it. As for me, I haven't tried one though because I find it expensive. Luckily, a good friend of mine who is staying in Korea sent me bb cream samples. I have yet to try them! I hope they don't make my face oilier as I already have a combination skin. Wow, you look good in the picture. I hope you post a picture of your beautiful face in the future. :)

Lots of love,

I love your crystal bling! So purdy *^_^* I'm with you on the dangling bracelets. They are too nice not to wear. I like combining them sometimes with regular non-dangling ones. I really love how this bb cream looks on your skin! =D I tried a different Skin Food bb cream and it unfortunately broke me out which sucked b/c I was really anxious to try it. =\

Hey Ahleessa, great review. You're right about the shades, people with darker skin tones often have trouble finding a bb cream that suits their complexion :-/

Very pretty necklace. I've seen this BB cream on my trip to Asia but sadly these don't work for me. I think the fragrance breaks me out badly. Maybe I'll try again some day.

BB Cream Queen: Thank you for visiting my blog, as well as, commenting! :) I'm guessing you're the queen of BB creams... hehe~ Which one would you recommend a NC35 foundation from MAC? Sorry I'm asking the question here but I couldn't find where to comment on your blog.

Hi!

Great review on the BB cream. I didn't know it started in Germany originally, cool fact. Your skin looks really nice, super jealous haha, I think I would rather have dry skin than oily/acne skin.

Super cute jewelry. I don't think any type of jewelry goes out of style, you just have to wear it with confidence. :)

SF products are very reasonably priced! Ive only ever tried the green version, which had a very strong scent o_O Im glad this bb cream works for you. I havent used BB creams in over a yr - TM works well for me :)

I hear a lot of good things about Skin Food BB creams =)

I love your bracelet! I usually wear dangly bracelets just because I like seeing them move and flash around. Plus they make noise when they clink against each other lol

true! the bb creams only come in like 1 shade and if you're lucky - 2! only one i can find that suits my skin tone is the l'egere in the pink tube. your freckles are cute! :D

ahhh... so that's what BB stands for. i always thought BB was a name of a brand. somewhere from japan or korea. thanks for the info there. i didn't know it originated in germany either. wow. i'm learning a lot all in 2 seconds. hehe... :)

aww... you don't really need to cover up your freckles. i think they are cute. speaking of that, i like the photo you posted of yourself sampling the BB cream on your face. you are very pretty. :)

i love the jewelry you bought. my favorite is the blue heart necklace. it's gorgeous and elegant. :)

thanks for the review. oh yeah, hope you got my email. sorry again how long it took me to write one. take care. :)

Ah well, now we know why those Korean actresses are so pale!
