I don't remember when it was, but I think it was last summer (2014). My friend and I was wondering around, and a nail salon had a grand opening. They were giving out free nail polishes. I happen to get one from Essie.
This is Essie in Chills & Thrills. Since I did a thorough review of Essie in First Timer, I will base this on that.
Here's a closer look at the polish and I have to say it's more bluer in the picture. The website describes it as "wildly sex. Totally unexpected. This supercharged neon blue violet keeps you on your toes." I have to agree with the description.
Here's a closer look at the brush. Compared to my perfect medium brush (OPI), this is a lot thinner in width and slightly shorter in length.
I applied OPI Nail Envy in Original, Formula X For Sephora Base Coat, 2 coats of Essie in Chills & Thrills, and then topped it off with Butter London Hardwear P.D. Quick Topcoat.
Now for my overall opinion... First of all, I'm not too sure if I got a bad batch. It was extremely clumpy on the top of the bottle. So whenever I pulled the brush out of the bottle and it would touch the inside top part, it would get thick. It made it hard to paint my nails. I had to make sure I didn't touch the inside top part. Secondly, having a thin brush didn't help me either. I, personally, like thick brushes. They're easier to quickly paint the nails. I had to stroke many times to paint my nails. For that reason, I'm not the biggest fan of Essie polishes. Like I said that's my personal opinion. Third, the consistency was kind of on the thick side. I wouldn't say it was thick but more slightly thick. With that said, it went on smoothly and there were no streaking and bubbles. Fourth, the color is really bright and pretty. I feel like it's more a summer/fall color but more towards fall. Lastly, it only lasted 4 days. It wasn't a slight chip at the tips but it wasn't big chips either. I would say in the middle.
Would repurchase: No.
