Chicken Porridge (dak juk)

What to do with left over chicken!?!? Ahhh~ I know... hehe~ ;) I made this many times this past week to get rid of the left over chicken we had. It was really delicious that my sister-in-law wanted the recipe for... hehe~

If you need some guidance with the ingredients, you can check my Korean Cooking 101. ;)

Ingredients:
1/2 c. sweet rice
1/2 c. plain, short grain rice
water
2 cans of chicken broth
1 c. water
1/2 carrot
shredded chicken
dried seaweed
chopped green onion

Step 1:
Get a bowl and wash the rice. You need equal amounts of sweet rice and plain, short grain rice (not jasmine). After washing, sit the rice in water for 2-3 hours.

Step 2:
In a pot, add 2 cans of chicken broth and 1 cup of water. Put the stove on high.
Drain your rice that has been soaked for 2 hours.
Once the broth is boiling, add the drained rice and chopped up carrots. Make sure you mix once in awhile with a wooden spoon so the rice and carrots won't stick to the bottom of the pan! Cook the rice for about 10-15 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, I shred the left over chicken. If you don't have left over chicken, boil a chicken breast and shred that. That will work too! :)
After 10-15 minutes of cooking the rice, add the shredded chicken. During this time, you need to mix the rice often with the wooden spoon!!! ;) The cooking time won't be long about 10 more minutes or so.
Once the rice is done, top it with dried seaweed and chopped green onion. Now you can eat with kim-chi... wheee~ :)

This past Friday I went to Chinatown with a friend and got some stuff. :X
I've been wanting to get these headbands with a tie on the bottom, but I couldn't find one I like. I finally found one I like... hehe~
I got this hair tie and would you believe it's only a $1!?!? It's so much prettier in person... hehe~ The picture doesn't do any justice.
I'm going to end with this cute pillow I got... wheee~ Unfortunately, Tobey wants to rip it apart... lol~ :X I also got some nail polishes but I'll hold that off for the next post. :D

Awww.. the pig reminds me of the one in the drama 'My Name is KSS'.

Oooh.. and you just got the konad? So fun. I've heard that some people have that problem too. People recommend filing the stamper so its a flatter surface rather than rounded. It has to do with the surface being too smooth? What polish are you using with it? Sometimes its that too.

Luckily, I haven't had a problem with the konad yet. *knock on wood* Sorry, I'm not much help.

Aww. I really should not visit your blog at night. The pictures give me the urge to go for a midnight snack.

Haha I'm afraid there's no recipe. I went to a Spanish restaurant for the paella.

Miley is popular in the US, I wanted to see what the hype is all about lol.

While waiting for AI, I'm going to watch House, Heroes and Gossip Girl hahaha

Ive been meaning to get one of those squishy pillows, lol guess thats why i recognized it first. then realized that it was a samsoonie :P
a friend of mine got obsessed with pigs...well...its funny cause she is several years older than me. but her bf at the time would always pick one up when he saw something. and seeing as they are cheap in korea, it wasn't a big deal. but personally i love bears. good ole classic bears :P

You know what? I just might do a tutorial. I've been contemplating on doing a konad or just a regular nail tut but my nails have just not been behaving.

The konad polishes are suppose to work with the kit. I find that any thick polishes will do as well, as long as its not too sheer. CG, SH and OPI has worked for me.
