I was fortunate to receive a product from Reviva Labs, they are known for their breakthrough in anti-aging skin care. It's great for aging skin, as well as, people who are preventing age.

Product Review: Reviva Labs Stem Cell Booster Serum

Where to purchase: Ulta and revivalabs.com
Price: $30 for 1 fl oz/ 29.5 mL

Made in USA

Description on the back: Swiss scientists have determined that the stem cell extract (Malus Domestica) from the rare Uttwiler Spatlauber Swiss apple can stimulate skins epidermal  cells. In fact, some scientists regard it as one of the most important skin care discoveries in years!

Special Benefits:
1. Swiss apple stem cells help revive skins own dormant stem cells and can help bring new life and energy to the epidermis. Recharging epidermal cells with our stem cell serum makes skin more responsive to the day or night cream applied over our serum. Overall results are accelerated and remarkable improved.

2. Swiss research showed a major decrease in appearance of lines and wrinkles in 30 days. The study with volunteer aged 37 to 64 determined a significant decrease in crows feet wrinkle depth for 100% of the participants.

Thoughts: Never heard of this brand, but was intrigued by the product. The idea it was made from Swiss Apple Stem Cells was interesting. First and foremost, I had no idea what apple stem cells are. Here's what it says on a piece of paper I received with the product.

'Stem Cells are born in the bottom "basal" layer of the epidermis. Skin scientists claim they are programmed by genes for a specific number of replications (self renewals). Regeneration is affected by sun damage, smoking, injury, etc., but most frequently by chronological aging. With wear and tear and general aging, skins' stem cells gradually lose energy, become weaker and less efficient in creating healthy new skin. That's when signs of aging appear on one's face. However, Swiss scientists have discovered that stem cells from a rare Swiss apple can actually repair and regenerate a human's aging or damaged stem cells, and give new life and a younger look and feel to skin. What's more, they can even extent the longevity of normal, healthy cells and "help keep wrinkles at bay." In other words, the Swiss apple stem cells help human cells act younger and live longer. The result is improved skin texture, reduced wrinkle depth and, ultimately, better looking skin.'

How great does that sound or at least it does for me! :) The first thing I did is smell the product. It does not smell like apple at all. Actually, I'm not too keen on the smell. Even though, I do not like the smell you actually don't smell it unless you're sniffing it. That's the only time I smelled the product. While you're applying it on your face, you don't really smell much. It's actually a doable scent unless you sniff it.
The product reminds me of a lotion instead of a serum. I associate serums with liquid-quality about them. This serum looks like a lotion period. Even though it looks like a lotion, it has a cooling effect. It's very refreshing while you're applying the serum. That's a quality most serums have which lotions do not. I also think it hydrates and melts into your skin pretty well. Most lotion-quality product takes a lot more work to melt into your skin. You only need one to two drops. With one to two drops, it spread well onto the skin and melts easily. I actually like how well it spreads out! :)

Now for the packaging, I like that it comes in a pump. It's sanitary safe, as well as, you can see how much you are pumping with the clear bottle. The pump is pretty accurate each time you pump. You don't pump more or less each time which is a plus to me. I hate pumps where you do not know how much will come out. When more comes out, it feels like a waste. If you get less, you know you need to pump more and end up getting more than you wanted.
I also like that on the bottom of the bottle they have a sticker with the expiration date. Unfortunately, mine was kind of ruined. I actually touched it with a wet sponge. :X You can still see it expires July 2014.

Lastly, overall experience with the serum. I have not noticed any improvements, but it has helped preventing. I have not noticed any extra wrinkles. :P Like most serums, you need to use it at least several months to noticed anything. It's been couple of months of using this product, but I have to be honest. I have not been the most faithful. I strongly believe a combination of this serum and their moisturizer would get a better result. Since I only received this product and used my own moisturizer, it's been pretty decent. I'm pretty happy with my experience! :)

Pros:
* Comes in a pump; sanitary safe.
* Accurate pumping.
* Comes in a clear bottle.
* Comes with an expiration date on the bottom of the bottle.
* Cannot smell the scent while applying.
* Spreads easily.
* Melts like butter.
* Cooling sensation.
* Repairs damaged or aging stem cells.
* Extends longevity of normal, healthy cells.
* No animal testing.
* No animal ingredients.
* Paraben-free.

Cons:
* Does not smell good.
* Does not smell like apple.

Would repurchase: Yes.

Weird that it doesn't smell like apples! :( I can usually tolerate most smells but if it's rank-smelling forget it!

Very interesting product...I've never seen stem cells in skincare until now. I like how it's paraben free and contains natural ingredients though :D

I love Reviva Labs products, you should try the hyaluronic acid serum they make, it works wonders with their anti-puff eye cream and night cream. Seriously, goodbye inflamation. It works because of the alpha lipoic acid reducing the inflamation and also speeding cellular recovery. Great post.
