Kate Mascara Finish in BK-1

I bought this mascara long time ago, last year sometime. I finally got to use it, as well as, it's going into the trash (I used it for 3 months). I think it's a good time to review this product. My thing is I don't know if this even exist anymore.

Product Review: Kate Mascara Finish in BK-1 (Kanebo)

Where can you purchase this: I bought this from a Japanese market
Price:
I can't remember.

Made in Japan

My thoughts: My initial reaction was how excited I was to try this out. I hardly get to try out Asian mascaras, as well as, it must be good for me since its aiming for Asian lashes... hehe~ I was a little bit confused when I first got it... lol~ :X It said mascara FINISH. I didn't understand what it meant by finish... lol~ Yes, I'm not that smart. :P I decided to use it with the mascara only for the month and half. The other month and half I used it after the primer (which is what you're supposed too). I used L'oreal Volume Shocking which I will review in the future. ;) It took some time for me to get use to the comb-like mascara. Once I got used to it, I wished it would hold my curls. It's not that bad but it did make it fall a bit, not much but I did noticed a difference. With the primer, it does hold the curl which I did like. The only thing is the primer was bad... lol~ :XPros:
* It's from Kate (Kanebo).
* Comb-like wand (got used to the last month).
* Holds a curl used with a primer.Cons:
* Not an attractive packaging, it's plastic.
* Comb-like wand (wasn't easy in the beginning).
* Doesn't hold a curl if used alone without a primer.

Would I buy this again? No.
Rating: 2/5 Tobey's Paws

Here's how the comb-like wand looked.
I wasn't used to it in the beginning, but it's not bad after awhile... hehe~

Now for the pictures of how the mascara looked on me.
I can't remember what eye makeup looked I used. If you want to know, my bad! :X Anyways, back to the mascara. This is how it looked when I first used it. I believe I took this look the first week of using the mascara alone. There isn't any primer. I can tell it weighed down my curled eyelashes here.
In this picture, I don't remember what makeup look I have too... lol~ :X This was taken around beginning of second month of using the mascara alone. No primer in this picture. I gotten better but the mascara still weighed down the lashes.
This eye makeup look is easy to remember... lol~ It's the Maybelline Charcoal Smokes tutorial I did (click here for the post). I used a primer before the mascara. It would have looked better if I used a better primer... lol~ It's not that bad if you use a good primer or at least I think so. :)

I bought couple of things from Forever Love, the accessory store for Forever 21.
I'm still into headbands, but not into ribbons/bows as before... hehe~ I like this simple headband with gold chains. Speaking of ribbons/bows, I think the 80's style of huge ones are back. I noticed that at the Forever Love store.
I also bought this ring. This is such a bad picture, but it's suppose to be a panda. I swear it looks cuter in person... hehe~ I found it on Forever 21 website (click here to see it on their website).

While shopping, I also stopped by Nordstrom to pick up a free full size of Lancome Juicy Tubes.
You can either take the cover of Seventeen magazine or a print out of the homepage of Seventeen (click here for the homepage). I took a print out of the homepage and got some hassle. I think it's best to take the information about the freebie. I can't seem to find it on the Seventeen website. Sorry!
You can choose from four different colors; white, pink, purple, and red. I choose the pink one. It's called Rain Boots. :)
I also picked out a free Too Faced Lash Injection mascara from Sephora inside JCPenny. You cannot do this at the Sephora store. It has to be inside JCPenny. Here's a coupon to print out (click here for the link). Good luck with the freebies! :)

Ahleessa! Omg, I bought the same ring over the weekend when they had the free shipping codes! What a small world. Super cute headband, I didnt see that on the site, but I wasnt really looking at the hair accessories. I wanted that Juicy tube color, but my Nords only had the two darker one so I grabbed the purple one. Its very pigmented-I was quite surprised! Great haul and great freebie deals!

I haven't tried any comb like mascara, but I think I would suck at it...as I'm even not so good with regular ones...& yay for freebies...downside: no nordstrom & sephora near me...:(

Thanks for letting me know about this mascara. I really like Kate products, but I'll pass on the mascara.

Cute haul!

Yay to freebies...thanks for sharing 'em! :D I haven't tried this mascara but I love Kate mascara base. Have you tried? It's like a cheaper version of Shiseido's. Great F21 haul...I heart pandas!

thanks for your review on Kate mascara, I've tried Kate liner and they worked really well, glad to read your review as I would think the Mascara would perform as great as the liquid liner :)

i've heard of the brand kate. i heard it has really good eyeshadow palettes. i just don't know of any japanese store around here. as for the mascara, even though it only got a two paw rating (i always thought this was cute. :D), i think your lashes still look pretty with the mascara on. i love that gold-looking eyeshadow in the second eye pic, btw. :D

oh, i'm sorry the contacts in the other link did not work out either. i know in time your blogger issue will be solved. i really wished they would respond quicker or understand what's going on.

love the panda ring. it is just darling and cool freebies too. now i'm REALLY excited about the sephora inside jc penney's that's about to open in our mall. how is it in your place, btw? do they carry NARS and make up for ever too? just wondering. i've been yearning for those brands.

thanks for the review and take care. :)

yikes. i rambled on and on. i forgot. about the bad gal blue, it's not too crazy blue. with primer, the blue is a bit more intense. it's still not too crazy though. i think it should be fine for daytime too. :)

Thanks for the review. I like that type of wand, it separates lashes very well.

Nice haul!

thank you! do you use a program to do the watermarks on your pictures or how do you do it? (sorry if its a dumb question). i like your blog! i will def be coming back to check updates!

thank you for answering my question about sephora inside jc penney's. :) that's cool that it carries cargo (or i hope the upcoming one will). i haven't tried that brand yet. i hope our mall will eventually get the actual sephora store too. it should be about time. hehe...

bad gal blue will look so cute on your lashes. i'm excited to see that color on you. :) i know one of its properties is brightening up the eyes. i think the plum one (if you'd like to try that too) enhances eye color. i wonder if mascara actually does that. i know eyeshadow does.

in case i muster up the courage to order online, i'd like to know where to get kate. until now, i'm still afraid to order online. i know i may be a little too paranoid. lol.

about the help, you're very welcome. :) i wish i could do more to help and i really wish the help forum would've been more responsive. i hope it'll be solved in time. i'm sure there's an eventual solution. :)

take care and enjoy your evening. :)

lol. come to think of it, i wonder why our mall is slow when it comes to stores too. like our H&M opened just last november, so that's VERY recent. we're still missing a MAC store and an actual sephora. and they get surprised why there's hardly any traffic. that's coz they need to open the good stores. hehe... i live in escondido, BTW. it's not exactly a tourist destination or a well-known place. it's like north county SD. i guess i live in the boring part of SD. lol. i've always wanted to live south. maybe when i can afford my own place i will.

wow. you went to UCSD? :D i didn't know that. i have a few co-workers that go there. yup, there is a mall close to it. UTC, university town center. it's a very nice mall too. i remember my FIRST sephora trip was there and it was almost five years ago. hmm... now that i remember, i've been there just once. i remember i went too faced crazy and bought a lot of those palettes that look like books. i forgot what they're called.

thank you for the links to stores that carry asian products. :) i sure will check them out. and in case i muster up the courage to order something from one of them, you will be the first to know. :D

take care and yay, it's friday almost. happy friday. :D

Good review, I'm not good with mascara's if they have the comb wands instead of a normal wand. I love your panda ring! Sooo cute!

As for the hair dye I'm the same way, I always want to dye my hair but I like my natural dark hair and when I do dye it I dye it darker. LOL, I guess I don't like change, so this color is quite drastic for me it will take some time getting use to.

The comb-like wand reminds me of Maybelline Cat Eyes VolumExpress Mascara. It's available only here in Asia though. I really love your eye makeups. The panda ring looks so gorgeous!

Lots of love,
