Product Review: Key West Health & Beauty Organic Unrefined African Shea Butter

Where to purchase: online at amazon.com
Price: $15.95 for 14 oz/ 397 g

Description from the press kit: Shea butter is extracted from the nut of African shea tree. The purest form of shea butter is in its raw or unrefined state.

Natural shea butter is an excellent moisturizer for the face and body and is widely used for hair treatments. It is also well known for its natural healing properties.
Thoughts: For years, I've heard how great shea butter is. For that reason, I was really interested in trying this product!
Here's a closer look at shea butter.
Here's a swatch of the shea butter on my hand.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, it has a strong scent. It smells very waxy to me. I'm not too sure if that's how shea butter is suppose to smell like. Secondly, the consistency is thick. It's also thick in the tub. I had to melt the shea butter with my fingers before applying it onto my skin. It reminds me of a lot of products but this actually takes more work or at least for me. The shea butter does get softer but not as soft as I'm used too. Once it's absorbed onto the skin, my skin is extremely soft and smooth. It doesn't leave a greasy/oily layer but my skin is extremely shiny/glowy. Lastly, I only used this on my body. If you have extremely dry skin, this product is amazing! I have crack heels at the back of my feet. I've tried a lot of different moisturizers and they don't seem to work. After the first usage, my crack heels improved dramatically. I was so impressed and amazed! It reminds me of Vaseline and how quickly the skin improves. The only difference is it's not as greasy as Vaseline. With all the negatives, I can overlook for the positive!

Pros:
* Consistency is thick.
* Melts with the fingers.
* Skin is soft and smooth.
* Does not leave a greasy/oily feel.
* Extremely hydrating!!!

Cons:
* Can only be purchase on Amazon.
* Smells waxy.
* Can be too thick for oily skin individuals.

Would repurchase: Yes.
Rating:  4/5 Tobey's Paws

o0o0o0o this would be good for day time. I swear by aquaphor, but that stuff can be a bit greasy to wear under clothes.

Glad it worked for your heels. I use a beeswax stick Surgeons Skin on mine and it works wonders.

Ahhh~ I completely understand. I felt that my body butter went through my shoes and stained it. It might be mental though... hehe~ :X
