Manicure Monday: PaintFab in Modern Mauvels

Last week has been extremely difficult to update my blog. First, I had to clean my internal computer. It was extremely dirty and it kept shutting my computer down. Then my strep throat got worst to the point all I did is sleep and rest. To make things worst I got pink eyes. The reason why I'm bringing this up is to please be patient with my blog. All my scheduled posts got posted and I'm back to square zero.

In March, I went to Lifestyle Bloggers Conference 2014.

At the end of the conference, they gave us a wonderful goody bag. JustFab not only gave us a bag, they even gave us one of their nail polishes.

* Finish: Creme
Thoughts: I actually got 2 PaintFab nail polishes. The other one I won't wear until fall/winter season. When I first saw the nail polish, Modern Mauvels, I wasn't too sure about the color. The color seemed to pale and thought it wouldn't match with my skin tone.
Here's a closer look at the nail polish. It's very true to color!
The brush is on the thin side, at least, compared to OPI brushes which I consider as medium thick.
This is 2 coats of PaintFab in Modern Mauvels on top of Orly Calcium Shield Basecoat. Then I topped it off with Butter London P.D. Quick Topcoat.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, the scent of the polish is strong when you open the container. After a minute or two, the scent disappears. There's nothing new with the smell. It smells like every other polishes. Just that some of them are stronger than others. This is one of them. Secondly, I'm not a fan of thin brushes. Even though the brush is thin, I'm glad the consistency of the policy is on the medium. It doesn't dry fast that I have to brush quickly with the thin brush. I can actually take my time painting each nails without it getting clumpy. It also goes on smoothly and there's no streaking. It leaves a smooth, sleek look. Lastly, the lasting power isn't long. It lasted 3 days before I noticed chipping. It's not one of those thin chips, but big chucks. At the end, I ended up liking this color. It's a gorgeous mauve that doe not match your skin tone.

Pros:
* Varieties of colors.
* Gorgeous mauve.
* Consistency on the medium side.
* Easy application.
* No streaking.
* No bubbles.

Cons:
* Thin brush.
* Strong odor when you open the container.
* Lasting power is short, 3 days.

Would repurchase: Maybe.
Rating:  3.5/5 Tobey's Paws

I hope you're feeling better Ahleessa! I think I don't have any mauve color in my collection but I should. This one looks nice!

what an ordeal ahleesa. i hope you're recovering from it all. when it rains, it pours. just take things one day at a time. pretty nail polish. the color will go with everything. the only thing i don't like is the wear time. 3 days and big chunks. how frustrating! wishing you a much better week doll.

And pink eye on top of that? *massive hugs* Hopefully this is all the bad stuff and the rest of May will be awesome =) As for the polish, love the color...but the wear time and brush would make this a no go for me. Too bad too, its so pretty

Oh mi gosh I'm feeling a lot better today! I'm just thankful most of the pain from the sore throat is gone. I had it for 2 weeks and it was extremely hard to eat. I lost 8 lbs. Unfortunately, I gained 3 lbs back... eek~ :(

I can see you wear mauve. I think it'll look great on your skin.

It definitely was pouring! I get really sick once a year and the weird thing is it always happen in May. Either I get couple different sickness or one huge, bag one. Thankfully, my sore throat is feeling better now and I can eat.

It is a pretty color but I agree. I'm not happy with the longevity.

Awww~ Thank you for the hug! :) I tend to get really sick once a year and it usually happens in May. I'm not too sure why but it started long time ago. :/

It is a pretty color and I agree with what you have to say.

Oh wow that sounds miserable, I had really bad strep throat once it was so bad I did not sleep at all and to swallow water every time I swallowed and I got a heart murmur because of it. But on the upside I do like that color!
