When I went to my drugstore and saw the newest display for Revlon balms, I was so excited! I grabbed one each from their matte and lacquer collection. For this post, I will focus on their matte collection.

Thoughts: When it comes to matte lip colors, I have to be careful. They tend to look really dry not creamy on me. For that reason, I'm very cautious. So when I saw this display, I was hopeful and still purchased one. I purchased the lightest pink from the collection.
Here's a closer look at the balm. It's very true to color!
Here's a swatch of the matte balm.

Now for pictures how the matte balm looks on me...
I applied this matte balm on top of my clear lip balm.
Here's an overall look on me.

Now for my overall opinion... First of all, I think this is totally different from their Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. You can read my thorough review of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. For one thing, they're concept is different. Both balms has pigmentation to give you color, but the difference is that one (Matte Balm) does not stain your lips while the other (Balm Stain) does. You can use the Matte Balm to look like a stain on your lips, but it won't stain it. Secondly, another reason people might think the Balm Stain and Matte Balm are the same is the packaging. They're both retractable pencils, and pretty much they look alike. The difference is the Matte Balm is matte and the Balm Stain is on the shiny side. Third, it has a minty smell but it's not strong while applying it onto your lips. In all honesty, I was kind of scared to try the product after smelling the balm. I cannot stand the minty feel. For most people, it only last a few minutes. I have really sensitive lips and I can feel the tingling sensation for hours. Thankfully, there's no tingling sensation! Next, the product is very easy to use. One of the reasons why I love pencils is that it's easy to apply on your lips especially the outer part or at least for me. The balm goes on smoothly, does not bleed, it's very true to color, and it's very pigmented. If you have really dry skin, it will define your lines and the dry spots. I highly recommend you hydrate your lips before applying this product. When it comes to moisturizing your lips, it's not the best but it definitely does not dry out. This balm did not leave a dry, white residue in the center of the lips. That's a big plus! Lastly, it lasts a long time until you either eat or drink.

Pros:
* Revlon; a brand I trust.
* Comes in a variety of colors.
* Different from Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.
* Retractable pencil.
* No minty sensation.
* Matte.
* True to color.
* Goes on smoothly.
* Does not bleed.
* Pigmented.
* Does not dry out your lips.
* No white residue in the center of your lips.
* Long lasting until you eat or drink.

Cons:
* Minty smell, but it's slight.
* Shows your fine lines.
* Not the most hydrating product.

Would repurchase: Maybe.

I'm dying to try this collection but they are always sold out by me! I love a matte lip and I also love how easy the pencils are to apply. Love the color on you!

Thank you! :) I don't think they're limited edition. Eventually, they will be restocked and you can purchase them. :) I can't wait to hear which ones you purchase.

i'd still prefer the balm stain since i'm not very keen on matte lippies..but the color looks gorgeous on you! i might pick one up soon maybe in rich red color? ;)
the balm stain colors deepen once they are on as almost all stains do..i find it a little annoying, though.

I think that's the reason why I did not like Revlon Balm Stain. I didn't like how it got darker. I'm not blessed like you to look good in dark, bright colors. :) You should definitely pick one up and I cannot wait to hear what you have to say.
