Los Angeles Beautylish

This past weekend, October 23rd, I had the greatest opportunity to take part of Los Angeles Beautylish Event.
It was hosted by the founders of Beautylish (there's three of them), as well as, the people who work there (Christina and Victoria). This picture was taken at the end of the event, but I think it deserves to be posted first... hehe~ Unfortunately, it's not the greatest picture. I was sitting on the side. :(
These are the brands that sponsored Beautylish, as well as, gave us products to try.
As soon as you enter the room and in the front, they had three mini-stages for makeovers by Napoleon Perdis, Stila, and Maybelline. On the right, they had two manicurists doing manicures on our hands. You had a choice of either Orly or Chanel nail polishes. I got a mini-makeup by Stila. She added blue eyeliner on my lashes, added blush to what I had, and a lip stain. It really came out nice! :)
Here's a closer picture of the stage.

They had different types of tables, example table covered by silver cloth pictured above, either to visit or sit at. At the center of the table, they had a bowl of makeup goodies to grab and try at home. They also had a candle but to be honest, I can't remember if it was lighted... hehe~ :/
They had beauty tips at each center. I thought that was a genius idea... hehe~ :) Don't mind me I get amazed by simple things... hehe~ :D
They also had yummy, delicious food to try.
Here's a closer picture of the food *drool as I type*... hehe~
They also had cupcakes. Doesn't that look like a Christmas tree?... hehe~ It's so cute! :) My apologies, but I forgot to take pictures of the bar. I had the special cocktail Beautylish/Pink Chatelet. Victoria told me about that drink and it was delicious! I should have taken a picture. :X
Carol, the manicurist who did my nail, painted it with one of the new collection from Orly. I believe the name of the nail polish is Lunar Eclipse. It's such a gorgeous color and she recommended this nail polish to match with my hair... hehe~ She also said the new collection is very smooth to apply on the nails. She definitely recommends this collection!... hehe~ ;)
These are the things I grabbed from the center of the tables. I'm sure most people ate their chocolates and candies, but I wanted to take picture of it as soon as I got home. I know I'm weird... hehe~ :P I ended up giving the chocolates to my dad, and the candies to my niece and nephew. The things given were Orly nail polish in Out of This World (I will do a swatch later), two Yes To Carrots Lip Butter, Elf All Over Color Stick, NYX Glitter On The Go, Napoleon Perdis lipgloss, Stila lipgloss, and Yes To Cucumbers Eye Love Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel.
Not only that, they gave you a goody bag.
These are the things that were in my goody bag... hehe~ I got a Beautylish t-shirt, two Yes To Carrots Lip Butter, three Yes To Cucumbers Eye Love Cucumbers Soothing Eye Gel, Yes To Cucumbers makeup wipes, Stila lip and cheek stain, NYX goody bag (blush, lip liner, and lipstick), and Orly nail polish in It's Not Rocket Science.

Thank you Beautylish for inviting me!!! I had a great time! :)

Personal Microderm

About a month ago, SkinCareRx sent me a home microdermabrasion tool to try and review.
Other than the Personal Microderm, they sent two sample size M2 skin care products.
The Personal Microderm came with...
* 1 personal microderm
* 6 exfoliating discs; 2 green (for rough skin) and 4 blue (for sensitive skin). They also come in two different sizes; small for the small areas like the face and big for big areas like the body.
* 1 electric cord
* 2 caps; large for the body and small for the face
* 1 resuable filter
Product Review: Personal Microderm

Where can you purchase this: Personal Microderm and SkinCareRx websites
Price: $177.20 (I got mine for free)

Information on the back: This is not a wannabe treatment like a cream or a scrub... it is the real thing. Professional Microdermabrasion has been around for decades and has been clinically proven to give you younger, more vibrant, glowing skin. This Personal Microderm unity uses the same aluminum oxide crystals embedded in the tip that are used in ten thousand dollar machines found at your doctor's office.
My thoughts: Before you start, you definitely need to watch the CD! Honestly, I was clueless until I saw the CD... hehe~ It made me understand the home microdermabrasion tool much better. :)
The two sample size M2 skin care products are crucial in the process of using the Personal Microderm. Since these are acidic, they recommend using the night prior and a day after using the Personal Microderm. The one on the left is the M2 Skin Refinish and the right is M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer.

* M2 Skin Refinish: The core treatment product in the M2 line. This multi-purpose serum uses a highly-potent (20%) combination of Mandic and Malic acids taht rapidly evens out skin tone, reduces breakouts, minimizes pores, and eliminates wrinkles.
* M2 Skin Recovery Moisturizer: A featherweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer with soothing anti-inflammatory ingredients designed for healing. Skin will look fresh and hydrated with noticeable reduction in redness and irritation. Vitamins A, C, E, and D protect the skin from damaging free-radicals. Mandelic and Malic acid (4%).

To be honest, I was scared to apply this on my face. The thought of putting something acidic kind of scared me... hehe~ :X It wasn't bad and I didn't feel any weird sensation!... hehe~ The moisturizer is yellow and have a slight scent, but it's not bad at all! :)

Now for the Personal Microderm, there's actually a lot of process.
You need to make sure it has the reusable filter or else the flakes will go into the machine. That's not a good thing! :P After you use the Personal Microderm, you need to clean the filter with warm water.
Then you put the discs, green/blue and the size small/big depending on where you're going to exfoliate.
Then the cap.
Lastly, the cord. The cord is really interesting! You don't just put the cord in, but you need to turn it 1/4.

When you use this product, you need to stretch your skin with your fingers and move the Personal Microderm in a line. Don't leave this in one spot!!!! You will see a white line compared to the rest of the face. That's how you know you did that spot and you move onto other spots. For some odd reason, for me I saw pink lines... lol~ :X I might just have sensitive skin but in all honesty, it hurt the first time!!! The pain doesn't last that long thankfully, probably 5 minutes maximum, and it gets easier with each use. The pinkness it left disappears within 5 minutes as well. ;) I didn't notice any change right after but in the morning, my huge nose pores seemed smaller. If you're looking for fast result, this isn't it. It takes time and you will notice differences after each result. I also noticed smoothness on my skin. I will keep trying this and hopefully, I will see results on my freckles and sun spots. :X

Pros:
* Do it yourself kit.
* Very easy to use.
* Notice of shrinking pores.
* Results show slowly but at least it shows.
* Smoother skin as each usage.

Cons:
* It hurts the first time, but only for 5 minutes maximum.

Would I buy this again: Yes, but hoping I don't need too with this one I got.
Rating:  4/5 Tobey's Paws

If you want to try this product which I highly recommend, the coupon code is PMD15OFF. It's 15% off that's almost $30 off Personal Microderm. It expires December 31, 2010.

Thank you SkinCareRx  for sending this product to try out!!! :)

Los Angeles Korean Festival and My Haul

I didn't have a chance to visit all four days of Los Angeles Korean Festival. I did visit Saturday and I had a blast!!! :)
I knew they had been doing this for years, but I didn't know it was their 37th year! Wow oh wow!... hehe~ I took a picture of the main stage.
The first thing we visited was the main event, bi-bim-bahp (mixed rice), that occurred at 11:30 a.m. They mixed bi-bim-bahp in that big bowl. It took more than 5 people to mix the rice!... hehe~
After they mixed the rice, they gave a bowl for the audience to taste it. I was expecting a small size but they actually gave a decent amount. It was so delicious! I had seconds... lol~ :X
After eating bi-bim-bahp, I went shopping at the vendors. Not all the vendors are for shopping, some had games and gave away free stuff.
There's another section of vendors where they sell food and have free activities. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture but I did take one of the activity. You get to paint gold on a black background. I didn't take the whole painting because it was huge, people were blocking it, and the sun was in the wrong direction... hehe~ The other side had a building with a Korean flag (in the picture is American flag).
Here's another free activity; you make flowers and/or hanging flowers. This activity was the most packed!!! It was hard to get through and there was a waiting list to make these.
Here's the flower I got to make. I love it so much!... hehe~ I'm so into paper flowers. I have quite a few at home. :)
Since the activity was so packed, I didn't want to move to the other table to make this. I asked them if I can take it home to make and they said okay. I wanted pink and green, but I'm thankful they just gave me anything... hehe~ :) I took this picture after I glued the papers. For that reason, I didn't pull the green leaves down yet... hehe~ ;)
The last activity I visited was the stamping. The gentleman was holding my artwork and the lady was holding my flower... hehe~
Here's my first artwork the kind gentleman was holding... hehe~ This is my favorite out of the two I did! :)
This is my second artwork. It's such a cute character!
After visiting all the vendors, we went to the parade that occurred at 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Here's a Korean marching band.
Here's the female dancers dancing with the rope. It was gorgeous!
Here's the last picture I'm going to share about the parade. There were more than these... hehe~ :P  They were performing a tak kwon do stunt; chopping the wooden block.

Now for my haul and freebies... hehe~
I came home with this huge, free bag from Verizon. I had my haul and all the goodies I got inside.
These are some of the free stuff. On the left is the free catalog mentioning the event and the important people of Los Angeles. I got 5 free fans. I gave all of them away except for the one with the black handle. That was my favorite one!... hehe~ I got some ginger candies which I gave to my dad, and some pen and pencils.
Here's some more freebies clockwise from top left; car CD holder, some wooden chair toy, squeezable golf ball, thermal band-aid that smells bad (lol~), travel tag that lights up, plastic light-up game, key chain that lights up and other (whistle and direction), and army style key chain holder that you put around your neck (the last two are in the middle.). Please excuse my explanation!... lol~ :P
I also got a free poster that I got to choose. Of course I choose the Korean drama I recently fell in love with, Baking Kim Tak Goo... hehe~ :)

Now for what I have bought...
At one vendor, I bought some beauty products... hehe~ :X I bought Princess BB cream ($10 originally $25), Cosline eyeshadow ($2.50), and Cosline sheet mask ($2). It should have come out to $14.50, but they only charged me for $12... woo hoo~ It's like I got the eyeshadows for free!!! :) I will review these products later.
From the same vendor, they gave me these samples for free.
Inside it has a toner and lotion for acne-prone skin. Since I can't use it, I will give them away... hehe~

At another vendor, I bought hair accessories and a bracelet.
Pink felt hair clip. It's so gorgeous and it was the last one they had.
Pink fuzzy hair pin. I gave this one to my niece. It looks adorable on her! :)
Brown fuzzy hair pin.
Gray fuzzy hair pin. I think I've recently been into flower hair accessories... lol~ :X
Blue beaded bracelet. It's very simple and classic looking at least for me... hehe~ They were all $1 each.

The last vendor I got the cutest thing... hehe~
A cute 3D Hello Kitty key chain. It's really heavy!... hehe~ The Hello Kitty is full of white crystals. The picture does not do justice!!! The best part it was 50% off. I got it for $7.25 originally $14.50.
